types of investigation


Types of investigation:
LABORATOTY
  •  Basic research or fundamental research:  They can be practiced only in the laboratories.(sometimes pure research) is research carried out to increase understanding of fundamental principles Many times the end results have no direct or immediate commercial benefits: basic research can be thought of as arising out of curosity.  

  • Applied research: is research that is applied, accessing and using some part of the research communities' (the academy's) accumulated theories, knowledge, methods, and techniques, for a specific, often state, comercial, or client driven purpose. Applied research is often opposed to pure research in debates about research ideals, programs, investigations and  projects.. 
 
  •  Quantitative research: refers to the systematic empirical investigation of quantitive properties  and phenomena and their relationships. The objective of quantitative research is to develop and employ mathematical models  theories and/or hypothesis pertaining to phenomena. The process of measurement is central to quantitative research because it provides the fundamental connection between empirical observation and mathematical expression of quantitative relationships.
